A Central Texas Sanctuary
Lake Pointe RV and Condo Resort is not only a sanctuary for humans, it’s a sanctuary for all kinds of Central Texas wildlife. Our park sustains a large herd of White-tailed Deer. If you’re still and calm, our deer will actually eat out of your hand. You can buy small bags of deer feed in the Clubhouse Store.
In addition to deer, Lake Pointe features innumerable bird species, owls, hawks, turkey buzzards, coyotes, foxes, turtles, squirrels, horned lizards, scorpions, and several varieties of snakes. Do be aware of where you are walking, we don’t often see rattlesnakes here, but they are here. Coral snakes are sometimes reported in the hotter months.
Canyon Lake supports Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Guadalupe Bass, Catfish, Crappie, White Bass, Striped Bass, and Sunfish.
May is Fawning Season…
Do not approach, do not touch…
If you see a fawn, please stay at least 50 feet away. Do not approach, touch, pick up, hold or move our deer babies. Mom will be back! It is natural for a doe to leave her baby while she forages for food, often for many hours at a time. A lone fawn is usually not an orphaned fawn. Keep dogs on leash at all times and away from the fawns.
Please tell your kids…
Please educate your children that fawns are delicate and can easily break a leg. Also, a doe will attack and injure you badly if they feel their fawn is in danger. Please leave the baby deer alone so that mom can safely return. If the fawn is visibly injured, starving or poorly responsive, contact office staff.
Check under your vehicle before driving…
Sometimes fawns are left under vehicles by their mothers. Fawns have been run over accidentally here! Please check under your vehicle and especially under each tire before moving to prevent a needless tragedy. Thanks for helping!
