Dark Skies
The light pollution at the Pointe is pretty low, so it is a great place to view the night sky.
August 11-13, 2025 | Perseids Meteor Shower
The peak of the Perseid meteor shower will fall on the mornings of August 11, 12 and 13. But a bright moon will be in the sky during the prime meteor-watching hours, from midnight to dawn. The duration of the Perseids this year is from July 14 through September 1, 2025, so if you miss the peak (with a bright moon,) there is still time to see them.
Oct 13-20, 2024 | Comet A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS)
The journey of Comet A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) as it drifts away from the Sun, still visible to the naked eye. Some viewed the comet with binoculars but the best way to capture it was with your phone using a no-flash, 3-5 second exposure. If you zoom into the photo you can see how intense the core is compared to the tail. Through October 20, 2024, viewers have the chance to catch this celestial traveler as it climbs higher in the sky, with the best moments starting around 30 minutes after sunset out at The Pointe. As the comet continues to move farther from the Sun, it becomes easier to spot—an opportunity that won’t come again for another 80,000 years.
